However, not every destination is ideal for digital nomads. After years of testing out cities across the globe, I’ve narrowed down my list of the best places to work remotely in 2025.

Lisbon is always at the top of my list. The city has a special energy—creative, chill, and undeniably cool. With fast internet, plenty of co-working spaces, and an ever-growing digital nomad scene, it’s one of the easiest places to settle into remote work.
Every morning, I’d grab a pastel de nata and set up in one of Lisbon’s trendy cafés before walking along the Tagus River during breaks. The affordable tram system makes getting around easy, and neighborhoods like Alfama and Bairro Alto are full of charm.

Medellín, Colombia: Eternal Spring and Fast Wi-Fi
When I first visited Medellín, I had no idea I’d fall in love with it so quickly. The city is modern, innovative, and incredibly friendly. Thanks to its consistent spring-like weather and low cost of living, it’s become one of the top digital nomad hubs in Latin America.
I often worked from Poblado, where cafés and co-working spaces are everywhere. The Wi-Fi is surprisingly strong, and many cafés cater specifically to remote workers. On weekends, I’d hike nearby trails, take cable cars up into the hills, or explore the vibrant markets downtown.
Safety has improved dramatically in recent years, and the local community is welcoming.
Chiang Mai, Thailand: Budget-Friendly and Inspiring
Chiang Mai is a classic—and for good reason. It offers everything a remote worker could want: low costs, a welcoming expat community, spiritual depth, and a slower pace of life. The café culture is huge, and I always found a quiet corner with fast internet to get work done.
Living here gave me time to focus deeply, recharge my creativity, and immerse myself in a very different way of life. From local food markets to temples, and day trips to elephant sanctuaries or mountain villages, the area is endlessly inspiring.

Barcelona, Spain: Culture, Coastline, and Connectivity
Barcelona is a dream. You get everything—beaches, city life, art, history, and a buzzing digital nomad scene. I loved being able to finish work and walk straight into a beachside sunset or stumble into a live music performance in the Gothic Quarter.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Mexico City, but it quickly became one of my favorite places to work remotely. It’s dynamic, full of life, and rich with culture. The cost of living is low, the food is next-level, and there’s no shortage of incredible work spots.
Neighborhoods like Roma and Condesa are filled with leafy streets, hip cafés, and like-minded remote workers. Internet speeds are reliable, and the city’s art and music scene will keep you endlessly inspired.
If you want a fast-paced, creatively charged environment, Mexico City is it.
Bali, Indonesia: Wellness Meets Work
Bali is practically synonymous with digital nomad life, and it lives up to the hype. I stayed in Ubud for a while, where I found a balance between productivity and personal wellness that I hadn’t experienced anywhere else.
The lifestyle is healthy, with easy access to yoga studios, healthy food, and nature. At the same time, co-working spaces like Outpost offer excellent infrastructure. And even though Bali is popular, it’s still affordable compared to most Western destinations.
The only catch is time zones. But if you have flexibility in your schedule, Bali is a paradise.
Prague, Czech Republic: History with a Modern Edge
Prague surprised me. It combines medieval architecture with a forward-thinking attitude. The city is safe, walkable, and packed with cafés and co-working spaces where it’s easy to stay focused.
It’s also centrally located in Europe, making weekend getaways to neighboring countries super simple. I loved working from riverside cafés during the day and exploring castles or catching live jazz at night.
If you’re looking for a balance of beauty, stability, and modern amenities, Prague checks every box.
Cape Town, South Africa: Natural Beauty and Urban Energy
Cape Town is one of the most breathtaking places I’ve worked from. Surrounded by mountains and ocean, it constantly reminds you to step away from your screen and soak in life.
I’d spend mornings working from Wi-Fi-equipped cafés, then head to the beach or hike Table Mountain in the afternoon. The exchange rate is favorable, the digital nomad scene is growing fast, and the city is full of diverse cultural experiences.
Yes, there are safety considerations, but with a little awareness and planning, it’s an incredible place to base yourself.
